Express Entry

Canada Express Entry (EE) is a federal immigration program for skilled workers, who have work experience in positions NOC 0, A or B. The program is available for people who live outside and inside Canada. If your application is approved, you can live in Canada as a permanent resident.

The first step is to assess your eligibility to one of the three Express Entry programs described below. Once you enter the EE pool, you will be assigned a number of points based on your age, education, work experience, education, and more. Every 2 or 3 weeks, Immigration will have a round of invitation that will select the profiles that are on the top of the ranking to apply for Permanent Residency. According to a recent Express Entry draw, a strong profile will have more than 450 points.

Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) Program

you need to score 67 out of 100 points before you can enter the Express Entry pool. This program will consider your work experience in the past 10 years. The selection factors are the following:

  • Age
  • Education
  • whether you have a valid job offer
  • English and/or French language skills
  • Adaptability (how well you're likely to settle here)

Canadian Experience Class (CEC) Program

You may be eligible for CEC if you have a minimum of one year work experience in Canada in the past 3 years. The position must be in NOC 0, A or B

You also must meet language requirements, and even though there are no education requirements it is highly recommended that you validate your highest level of education in order to obtain more points for the Express Entry pool.

Federal Skilled Trades (FST) Program

This program was designed to bring skilled trades people to Canada. All positions are in NOC B, and you are required to show a minimum of 2 years full time work experience in a trade position before you apply.

You are required to show language proficiency, as well as meet the job requirements for that skilled trade as set out in the NOC, except for needing a certificate of qualification.

The applicant must have a valid job offer or a certificate of qualification in that skilled trade.
